Teens Prayer for September 2nd

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Psalm 119 says Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. A lamp does not light a whole field. It lights one step. Help me stop demanding to see the next five years. Show me the next step. Today's step might be small. Read one psalm. Finish one assignment. Be patient with one parent. Tomorrow's step will appear when I get there. Save me from the panic that wants the whole map at once. The lamp is enough. Most of the people I admire in the Bible did not get the map. They got the lamp. Abraham got the lamp. Moses got the lamp. I get the lamp. That is not a downgrade. That is the way You lead Your people. Show me my next step today. I will trust You with the one after that when it is its turn. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
