Teens Prayer for October 9th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Joshua 1 says to be strong and very courageous, to stick to what You command and not turn to the right or left. That 'do not turn' part is what I keep missing. I obey for a stretch, then I drift. I scroll when I should rest. I say yes when I should say no. Help me stay on the path long enough for the path to actually go somewhere. Make me boring in a good way. Steady. Hard to derail. Worthy of being followed by people younger than me. Joshua had a whole nation walking behind him. I don't lead a nation, but my little brother is watching. The kid at school who looks up to me is watching. And even more than that, my future self is watching what I build today. The kid who doesn't turn becomes the adult who doesn't turn. Train me now. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

  1. Only be strong and very courageous. Be careful to observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you. Don’t turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
