Teens Prayer for December 2nd

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Luke 1, Mary told the angel, "I am the Lord's servant. May it happen to me just like You said." She was probably fourteen. She said yes to something she did not understand and could not control. I am about her age. There are things You are asking me to say yes to that I do not yet understand. Give me her kind of yes. Not because I have the whole picture. But because I trust who is asking. Mary's yes cost her. People talked. Plans changed. Her whole life shifted. Yes to You usually costs something. Help me say yes anyway. Because saying no costs more in the long run. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
